Class Acts
Most of us have felt it—the creeping doubt when someone twists our words, dismisses our feelings, or makes us question our memory. Bullying, manipulation, and gaslighting are everywhere: at work, in families, social circles, and public life. The damage is real. Gaslighting doesn’t just make us doubt ourselves—it undermines our thinking, trust, and sense of safety, eroding the foundations of our communities.
The Gaslit Brain is my urgent response to this hidden crisis. In The Bullied Brain, I harnessed neuroscientific research to show how normalized bullying done by adults physically harms brains and alters cognitive function. In The Gaslit Brain, I supply brain science research on what drives abusive individuals and creates pathological liars. Drawing on science to identify the psychology of manipulators, and show how lies and abuse weaken minds, empowers us to reclaim clarity, confidence, and reality.
The book is structured in three parts:
Part One shares case studies of people who recognized and resisted gaslighting, proving anyone can break free.
Part Two explores the brains of manipulators, showing how research and brain scans reveal why they deceive—and how that knowledge protects us.
Part Three offers six science-backed strategies to safeguard your mind, build resilience, and maintain clarity in the face of manipulation.
Having studied the brain, trauma, and human behavior, I’ve seen the silent destruction gaslighting causes—and the power that comes from understanding it. The Gaslit Brain is for anyone who has doubted themselves, felt unseen, or been silenced. It’s a guide to reclaiming your truth, protecting your mental health, and strengthening the communities around you.
