John C. Ward, BA’52, passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre in Toronto, Ontario, on February 10, 2024.

An honours graduate in French and Spanish, John worked for the CBC International Service in Montreal before finding his true vocation in the labour movement. He was director of CUPE’s Broadcast Division, and later spent 22 years as communications director and assistant to the president of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, based in Toronto.

In retirement he and his wife Flo settled in Stirling and Trenton, Ontario, and finally Toronto, having travelled widely in Europe, North America, and the Caribbean.
