Bruce Eaket, BSc'89, MBA'96

Bruce Eaket passed away on October 3, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Bruce graduated from the Faculty of Forestry at UBC in 1989 and went to work for Interfor on the west coast of Vancouver Island out of Ucluelet. He became a registered professional forester in 1991.

With a desire to move to the boardrooms of the industry, Bruce returned to UBC and obtained his MBA in 1996. Upon graduation, he moved to New Westminster and started working at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC). Shortly after, he married his wife Gillian (BPE'93, BEd'94), who he had met while studying forestry at UBC.

While at PWC, Bruce was instrumental in setting up their forest certification and consulting practice where he worked until his retirement in 2019. Bruce was passionate about the forest sector and improving the implementation of sustainable forestry practices. He mentored several sustainability professionals throughout his career who are carrying on his legacy today.

Bruce was every bit the family man and loved spending time at the family cabin near Prince George with friends and family. His infectious smile and constantly happy demeanour will be missed by his wife Gillian, daughter Fiona (23), son Callum (21), and his large extended family and friends.

Donations on Bruce’s behalf are welcome at the BC Cancer foundation.
