Class Acts
I attended UBC's Peter A. Allard School of Law during the winter session of 2004-2005. After 1L, I attended Columbia University in New York City and embarked on a writing career. Last year, I won a Goody Business Book Award in Santa Monica, California, for my debut non-fiction, Poverty and the Unequal Society in Hong Kong, published by Penguin Random House. The book was a series of meditations on the causes of inequality in Hong Kong, my hometown and where I lived for the past 11 years. As the editor Tom Grundy wrote, in support of my application to a Jaycee award: I “addressed poverty by raising awareness of the different inequalities it has caused and proposing reforms to combat the worst forms of chronic deprivation.” I am also an occasional commentator in the media.
