In Memoriam
Iola passed away after a lengthy illness on November 2, 2021. A UBC science student during World War II, Iola was brought into teaching anatomy in the fall of 1945 while she pursued her master's degree studying parasites in local muskrat populations. Post graduation, she worked in wildlife management as one of very few women in that field. She was very active in the Varsity Outdoor Club, and it was there she met Gordon Knight (Civil Engineering 1949) who would be her husband and best friend until his passing in May 2014. Iola is survived by her son, Tony Knight (Electrical Engineering 1981), and daughter, Tami Knight, as well as grandchildren Isaac and Dominique LeBlanc (Political Science 2015).
