Jamie taught at UBC from 1966 to 1991 and retired as a professor emeritus. He worked overseas until his death on April 1, 2023, in Thailand. He held many posts in Thailand, India, and Indonesia and was a highly regarded teacher and researcher. His work was his life, and he was able to teach right up to his passing!
