Dear colleagues and alumni,

I was honoured to be awarded the 2023 UBC Alumni Achievement Award in Research and present my work at the Vancouver Institute in 2023. I held the Canada Research Chair in Breast Cancer at Women's College Hospital in Toronto for 21 years.

Much of the work is summarized in my new book A Fair Trial: The Foundations of Breast Cancer, which is available on Amazon and I think is an interesting and provocative read! It is available on Amazon here: https://a.co/d/iAwMP8

Best to all,
Steven Narod

A review of A Fair Trial by Jeff Boyd:

Having worked as a scientist in the field of women's cancers for over 30 years, I can unequivocally state that this is the best and most enlightening book on breast cancer ever written. Dr. Narod leverages a keen intellect and an instinct for deciphering large and disparate datasets and observations to challenge conventional wisdom on much of what we think we know about the biology and clinical behavior of breast cancer. The content of this book, readily assimilated by physicians, scientists, and laypersons alike, has the potential to meet the "three Ps" of true innovation: paradigm shifting, practice changing, and policy making. Even for those not particularly interested in breast cancer per se, the methodology and approaches used by the author to transform the complex to simple unseen truths represents an educational and enjoyable read. I highly recommend Dr. Narod's masterpiece to the broadest possible audience.
