I’m officially retired from my lighthouse-keeping work with the Canadian Coast Guard, which means that I can write more books and explore the world more as well. I’m happy to announce the June 2024 arrival of a new picture book, “Have You Ever Heard A Whale Exhale?” (Pownal Street Press) with Victoria-based artist Claire Watson. One of my favourite memories while working on Lennard Island Lightstation near Tofino was looking out to the western horizon of the Pacific Ocean and seeking the spouts of the grey whales as they were migrating north to the Bering Sea every March. And thus this book was germinated!
