Did your career take a wild or unexpected turn?
If so, we want to hear from you. Share your story with UBC Magazine by May 17. It might just help UBC’s newest graduates!
Careers rarely follow a straight line, and sometimes, the most meaningful paths are the ones we never saw coming.
For our next Readers Write call-out, we want to know about the twists and turns that shaped your career. Maybe you completely switched professions, took a risk that paid off against all odds, or found yourself in a role you didn’t even know existed when you graduated.
If your career took a wild or unexpected turn, we’d love to hear your story. Tell us about a detour, pivot, or “plot twist” that’s shaped your post-grad journey in a momentous way. We’re interested in learning what you thought your career path would be, what shifted, and where you are today.
With UBC’s Class of 2026 set to cross the stage next month, your experience could offer perspective—and inspiration—to thousands of new graduates as they navigate their next steps.
Share your story using the form below by May 17, 2026, and it could be featured in a future UBC Magazine article!
Tip: If there’s a particularly dramatic, serendipitous, or defining moment in your story, set the scene: tell us who was there, what happened, and why it mattered. The more specific the details, the more your story will come to life.
We look forward to reading about your career journey and sharing your experience with UBC’s newest graduates!
